In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is lead to her death, but whom is the culprit? Everyone could be considered guilty because everyone had something to do with it. The houses of the Montagues and the Capulets are sworn enemies. Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague and of course they fall in love. Romeo is the cause of Juliet’s death because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Capulets were holding a party in their home and only people who were invited could attend. Of course there were no Montagues allowed because the Capulets hated them. Juliet had became “a bud bitten by an envious worm”. Because of this and all of the kisses they shared, she felt even more obligated to marry Romeo because it is a sin to do all these things before getting married. In Shakespeare’s times, religion was huge, so this was a huge belief of Juliet’s.
When the Friar gave the potion to Juliet that would make her sleep through the day she was supposed to get married, she was put in a tomb because everyone thought she had died. Romeo heard the news and jumped to conclusions. He rushed to her location and drank poison so he could be with her. Little did he know Juliet was only asleep and if he had waited even 10 seconds, he would have known she was still alive. Waking up next to her dead lover made Juliet do what many would, she killed herself to be with her lover. Just a few seconds time could have saved the both of them and would increase their chances of living happily ever after.
Juliet’s death lies in the hands of Romeo because he attended the party when he was not supposed to, kissed her and deflowered her, and jumped to conclusions too quickly. Because of these mistakes, it resulted in the both of their
