Gluttony is the overindulgence of food. Cassio shows its conflicting Virtue of Temperance because he tries to refuse alcohol, understanding that it will only make him gluttonous for more. Roderigo displays the opposing Virtue of Charity because, even though he believes that Desdemona is rightfully his, in his mind he gives her to Othello, understanding that because he must have done something that Roderigo did to win Desdemona’s heart.
