There was this old man standing at the gate waiting for them to open it.Now that’s a suspence because im wondering what does the man wants and what do he wants to talk about. Now anothe example is when this man wanted to take the man life now the reason why that is suspence is because that’s not a good reason for him to do that. Fear everyone should know what that is and what it does to people. Now I have great examples of that like in The Monkey’s Paw when he made his wish and the paw spun in his hand or even when herbert died from the machine in a factory. The reason why it scared me because I’m scared when someone makes a wish then something else just happen just like that im just being honest and when herbert died that really had me scared because I was wondering who was gonna die next. One more example it comes from Tell Tale

Mary McCarthy, an American author, once said: “We all live in suspense from day to day; in other words, you are the hero of your own story.” This means, each day everyone wakes up and they do not know what is going to happen, but at the end of each day they have written a story about that day and what has happened. The English III classes read “The Minister’s Black Veil” by Nathaniel Hawthorne and “The Pit and the Pendulum” by Edgar Allan Poe; these stories were written during the Dark Romanticism period. These stories were both on the dark side which leads the characters to do somethings that were a little unusual and they are not sure how everything is going to turn out. Each author uses these stories to build suspense and ambiguity throughout…

The story of a vampire, Count Dracula, written by Bram Stoker. Back in 1879 when this piece of literature was written it did not take much to push fear into an average persons mind. But what about this novel makes it so horrifying? Motifs such as revenants, somnambulism, mist/fog, curses, cemeteries, and many more are what give many gothic novels their appeal and emotional interest. This novel has a way of making the reader overthink everything and second guess themselves when it comes to assuming what is going to happen next, or what is going to happen to the characters as the story progresses.…

Symbolism-Good n Bad in Stories The theme of multiple narratives is directly connected by characters, light/dark, and possibly the mood. For example, “The monkey’s paw” looks at how a curse can destroy one’s life, while “Egg” examines life and death for human and chicken. In “the storm” it is about a storm that creates a dark feel, but Alcee is considered a light character, when “the necklace” is about a wife who rebels against her husband and loses her friend’s necklace, while the light is enjoying herself. I will help explain these four stories and how they connect to one another.…
