One of the most common misconceptions of Americanized Christianity is this Christianity is, itself the perfect model of Christianity. Our manifest struggles with the meaning of Christianity, and its application within our social structure has set to define the United States as a “Christian” nation – that is a nation founded and built upon a foundation of Christian principle. This misguided idea has lead many to defend a quasi-theocracy that was never intended to be the fundamental tenet of our national existence. Throughout United States history, this quasi-theocracy, built upon jaded interpretation of biblical text, doctrine and dogma has been employed to divide, conquer and oppress humans in conditions such as chattel slavery as well as…

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…

Humans were created in an unequivocally good nature (Smith 158). Humans are meant to be gratuitous to the life they received and to “surrender” to Allah. By surrender, this means “to be a slave to Allah is to be freed from other, degrading forms of slavery” (Smith 158). These aspects of Allah – his omnipotence, oneness, and deliberate creation – are the best way to sum up his significance in…

Righteous slaughter is an impassioned attempt to perform a sacrifice to embody one or another version of the “Good”. Offenders defend the good, even in what initially appear to be crazy circumstances (page 13). One of the examples Katz describe was Francine Hughes who killed her spouse James for beaten her for 15 years in front of her daughter. The version of the good she was defending was not simply the right to simply physical self-defense.
