When reading pages one hundred four through one hundred fifteen there were many personal emotions. This was especially present when Eliezer's father died. It was very sad because Eliezer's father had been through so much already being in the concentration camp itself, but died crying out for Eliezer. He was also so close to being free from the camp. A lot of emotions were also present when Eliezer finally made it out of the concentration camp. It was very emotional because he was one of the very few people who made it out of Aushcwitz.

These pages also showed the two literary elements simile and metaphor. Simile was present int the line, “I found my father crying like a child (page 109).” This is simile because Eliezer is comparing is father

In the book, it shows how people's emotions or feelings changed towards the people they love when times get worse. For example, before Elie’s family and neighbors had been in the ghetto, they had promised each other with comfort and safety. Also, when the young men had beat Madame Schachter when she had her vision of the fire, instead of comforting her, they had beat her in front of her own son. Finally, when Elie had to watch or leave his own father too die for his own survival. All these are examples of how bad people treat each other in times of suffering.…

In the book, Night by Elie Wiesel, published in 1956, he talks about his life during the Holocaust in Auschwitz, Germany. After the first night of the concentration camp, Wiesel woke up by getting beaten, being told to run from one barrack to another. From getting soaked in disinfectant to having wearing clothes that cover you from almost being naked and from being there for more than 3 weeks, Wiesel stood wondering it was a dream. Throughout the book Night, Wiesel expresses his feelings by using anaphora to ask rhetorical questions to show how experiencing pain, and death changed him into a different person.…

In the passage from the memoir “Night” By Elie Wiesel, he uses imagery to achieve the desired effect of sorrow. Imagery is the use of vivid or figurative language to represent actions, or ideas. It can be found that Elie Wiesel uses imagery in his memoir to portray sorrow. “SOME TEN THOUSAND MEN had come to participate in a solemn service, including the Blockälteste, the Kapos, all bureaucrats in the service of Death.” (Page 67) After the Oberkapo were arrested and roll call was taken, the SS had its hearts set on hanging a child in front of everyone; which they did.…

“The feud might, perhaps, have died down or been compromised if the personal ill will of the two men had not stood in the way” (Saki 83), this quote really shows how two the main characters were foolish and instead of ending the feud between them, they kept trying to kill each other. Ulrich and Georg were both very foolish and kept trying to find each other. On page 83 author Saki states “each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind,” (Saki 83) this also shows how Georg and Ulrich kept trying to find each other instead of ending the feud. What the two main characters didn't know was that soon later an inconvenience of them being together would happen and their eyes would open of how foolish they were.…

There are three quotes from the novel that are significant and poignant. One significant quote is about Eliezer’s loss of religion. With everything happening, the Holocaust, him being separated from his family and witnessing multiple deaths, he lost faith in God. To him if God was real these things wouldn’t be happening. “ Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes…” (32).…

In the memoir Night by Eli Wiesel, the author uses fire as a motif to convey the idea that death does not always mean the death of the body, it could also mean the death of faith and hope. For example the author states,”Never shall I forget the flames that consumed my faith forever. ”(78) This supports the idea that death does not always mean the death of the body, it could be the death of the soul and mind, because faith is part of the soul, so that means part of Eli’s soul died when he saw the flames. After this Eli becomes a different person, questioning his faith.…

Elie felt dead inside from there on. Many tragic incidents happen in the world today including murder, I think of the concentration camps to be much like abortions, because abortion is murder of an innocent child. " This quote utilizes words like lingering, death, writhing, extinguished and corpses, along with others, to portray a depressing mood to the occurrence. The use of tone, mood and senses makes the reader feel empathy towards Elie, as well as a bit of regret for not being capable of doing anything to help him deal with the situation. Meanwhile, watching The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, although hard, wasn't impossible, because of the lack of scenes that resembled the real life at the camp. It is mostly a story of a family, therefore, portraying the reality of the camp isn't the main focus. However, the scene of the protagonists deaths was particularly difficult, because it included a strong representation of the senses, allowing intense emotions to appear.…

If only I was relieved of this responsibility, I could use all my strength to fight for my own survival, to take care only of myself…” (Wiesel 106) This quote shows how Eliezer is starting to think of the concentration camp as a place that is every man for himself, and not think of his father.…
