Since the day of birth, I experience sexism. Being born a girl, it is a norm to hear people demeaning, and descending women in general and me. My father tells my mother that drinking with his friends and co-workers, coming home late at night, puking all over the place, neglecting his children are things men do; and my mother’s job is to taking care of the housework, and us. My father also calls young women “gai to”. “Gai” means girls, while “to” means young, which is only used for the animals. My sister asks me not to curse anymore, since girls do not use bad words. Furthermore, my kindergarten teacher asks me to behave myself, because girls do not run around, do the banana split, sit with her legs wide open, and talk loudly.
