Claudius Suspects On Hamlet’s Madness:
Hamlet’s madness was suspected by only one person that is Claudius. Claudius, who killed his brother and married his sister-in-law (Hamlet’s mother), was a cunning and wicked person, who had a strong doubt on Hamlet’s madness and made many conspiracies along with Polonius by using his daughter Ophelia as a trap to know the reason of Hamlet’s madness. When Ophelia comes before Hamlet, they (Claudius and Polonius) spy on them behind the arras. Initially Hamlet is tender with Ophelia but after realizing her disloyalty through her artificial talks he behaves harshly with her and taunts her and uses vulgar language. Thus, sudden use of harsh language by Hamlet with Ophelia strengthens the suspect of Claudius
