The literary device example I will be expanding is Repetition. I found repetition on page 109, “She didn’t like it,” he said immediately. “Of course she did.”“She didn’t like it,” he insisted. “She didn’t have a good time.” Gatsby repeated “She” and “ She didn’t “ four times in the example. I think it means that Gatsby wants to make it clear that she is not the same Daisy. Also I think Gatsby feels like he needs to do something else or more to make it feel like the old Daisy. And him repeating “she” and “she didn’t” makes him feel like he didn’t do enough for Daisy and felt disappointed. The repetition says how Gatsby feels and how he is expressing it. Also on why he might be repeating it. The repetition matters because you can understand
