In the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee the character Tom Robinson was falsely accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Not only did Tom not rape Miss. Ewell, Tom was a good man even if he was a cripple. First and foremost Tom Robinson was a cripple. His left hand was injured when it was caught in a cotton gin, and “his left arm was fully twelve inches shorter than his right, and hung dead at his side” (Lee 248). However the bruise on Miss. Ewell’s face is on the right side, therefore it must have been made by a man with a strong left hand. As proven above Tom Robinson's left hand was useless, and while Mr. Ewell is left handed. There is no way that Tom could have punched or chocked Miss. Ewell with just one good arm. Furthermore there was
