When we as a society have a racial bias against people it not only affects us, it hurts everyone around us. Society has a very heavy bias on the African American people. We see the as sellers and users of drugs. Society sees then portrayed as scary thugs who do not care about anyone. Social media, newscast, television shows, etc play into this stigma very heavily. You see them portrayed in such a bad light that it often is portrayed into the way we treat them in real life. Discrimination is the practice of banning a person from doing something because of race, gender, sexual orientation, and looks. It is now mostly illegal in most places. With discrimination came more obscene practices and traditions. We banned people of color from jobs, buses, schools, restaurant, even public restrooms. Of these practice we would jail them for simply having that skin tone. They would be murdered and beat. Persecuted. This time held the Klu Klux Klan, formerly known as KKK. It was a very rough time for our nation leading to a lot of the Civil Rights acts. The civil rights movement led by many influential people such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. They helped People of Color gain the rights to do many things that were illegal or very rough for them To accomplish. To vote, to own property, to go to college, to use the bathroom of choice, etc. It gave them the rights that they needed and the nation needed. Once they lept the discrimination hurdle they are now in a rough time of hate and prejudice. From many of thousands of years society has a stigma around people of color. Although we are not born with it we are groomed into it as a child. We hear our parents talk about it, to the neighbor saying something about the couple that just moved in.
