It is imperative to note that the world population is comprised of different races that make the planet. Therefore, the cooperation between these races is needed for meeting the objectives of living in harmony. In this regard, there are a number of ground rules that all races should observe with regards to interacting with each other (Wan 1). There is a need to understand the world has experienced racial discrimination more than any other time in the history and has been evidenced in professions, social places, and communities. A good example of racial discrimination is the article published on CNN by Helen Wan titled ‘The Surprising Racial Bias against Asians’ that provided an account of researchers from Columbia and Wharton who sent messages with the objective of meeting their mentors. The results of the project were noted by the rate at which Asians were discriminated while white male students, on the other hand, received warm welcome via email. The trend clearly shows that racial discrimination is alive and thriving. For example, it was noted that stereotypes led to discrimination through the mechanism of developing negative perceptions about Asians. An issue that came up with regards to Asians is their reserved nature and leading a serious life that was not comprised of great social life. In this case, other races perceive them as ‘not outgoing’ and, thus, less fit to be included fairly on the issues of importance. The case of USC President Sampath, in which she encountered racial slurs during her walk, is another incident that brought out the dark side of racial discrimination (Wan 1). As she narrated her experience on social media, she was pissed and scared by the level of racial discrimination that was still rampant in the country.
