Their mission was to get back civil and political liberty. They fought hard, but they could not complete their mission without assistance. Civil Rights activist leaders were people who used the power of their voices and direction to lead people to peacefully protest against the unjust segregation laws. Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, Mahatma Gandhi are just a few of these powerful civil rights leaders. They fought hard for oppression, segregation, and racial injustice to be stopped. Martin Luther King Jr. believed the best way to successfully protest was to do so peacefully. Be that as it may, this did not mean quietly. At first King was looked upon as a crazy man by not wanting to fight violence with violence. Many protesters did not share the same views and King and many choose to be violent in their acts. Malcom X, though still a civil rights leader, was one of these men. He was often found saying, “All Negroes are angry, and I am the angriest of [them] all.” Malcom believed in self-defense and that the black members of society should violently fight back and try to force their way to equality. Fire cannot simply be fought with fire. This would only increase the flame and cause more destruction. People often ask: “If the Anthem is so racist, why have issues involving the lyrics never surfaced or been a concern.” Colin Kaepernick took a stand against oppression. The anthem seems hypocritical. It declares this is the “Land of the free”; this is the land of liberty, yet people are being killed and treated unfairly and cruelly. It just is not right. Many people, including the President of The United States, seemed to have been wrongly informed or possibly may have not received any information about why Kaepernick is choosing to sit, considering they believe he is protesting other things. The people opposed to this have blown everything so far out of proportion, it is beginning to become unbelievable. I believe that because the image surfaced on the internet so quickly, many people did not know what to think of the situation. In my opinion, people started thinking of the worst things. Controversy started spreading; people are saying that Coin Kaepernick was disrespecting the flag, the military, the National Anthem, the NFL, the people of America, and the people who fought for our freedom. This, however, is not the
