Lauryn Altman Racial Inequality In the Novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper E. Lee, there is a lot racism that was going on at the time. In the story a black man named Tom Robinson was accused of rape by a white girl, Mayella Ewell. Everyone believed her because they didn’t think a white girl would lie, but a black male would. This is an issue because you should not believe someone just because of the color of their skin, but they points they make to back themselves up. Even in this generation after everything this country has been through there are still people who are racist. They will blame a certain race for something only a few people did.
