The epic story of Beowulf portrays a young man determined to find his place in the Anglo-Saxon society as a hero, encouraged upon him from his youth, Beowulf was enthralled, one can even say he was obsessed, with the idea of fame and accomplishment. Although Beowulf is still the hero he discovers that Grendel had a son with a witch Selma (Selma not mentioned in the book at nor how she had a child with grendel added as a dramatic scene for hollywood.) Then there is the possibility of the story to repeat again with Grendel's son, because his father and grandmother were both killed due to them being demons and the people being afraid of them….The king Hrothgar wanted them both dead because of his guilt he knew that killing Grendel's father for getting in his way was unfair and he needed to destroy what was causing him guilt in other words he did it for selfish reasons. If Hrothgar would have not killed grendel's father their wouldn't have been so many tragedies and deaths.
