How Montana 1948 relates to this issue
Specifically, in the fictional novel Montana 1948, the Hayden family has all the power in their small town, and Frank Hayden abuses his power and rapes young women. One brother, Wes, is the sheriff and the other brother, Frank, is the doctor. Frank sexually abuses many of his female Native American patients and rapes them. Michael Swango in Blind Eye: How the Medical Establishment Let a Doctor Get Away with Murder, when Dr. Swango tries to kill patients. Dr. Swango, a prominent doctor, murdered many patients and got away with it for a long time. Nobody commented on these murders because everyone respected him as a doctor. His murders were regarded as accidents by the hospital. This shows the difference in social class levels between a doctor and a nurse. In a hospital, a doctor’s word is taken above a nurse’s word. Nurses saw Dr. Swango murder other people, but his word that he did not do it went above the nurse. This was also the case when hospital workers and other patients noticed him murdering others. Eventually, he would kill enough people in one hospital and others would start to realize what was happening. At that point, Dr. Swango would leave the hospital and another hospital would hire him soon after. Many people trusted and protected Dr. Swango because he was a doctor, even though he was also a psychopath. It was made very difficult for outsiders to try and charge Dr. Swango with murder because the high level people in the hospitals did not want to give over any evidence. This occurred because these doctors wanted to protect a fellow doctor, even though they knew he did something terrible. If he had been a nurse trying to kill patients, then a doctor probably would have noticed and said something and he would have been
