The True Meaning of an Effective Leader What is the true meaning of an effective leader? Leadership is a major part of today’s society and even in Ancient Rome. In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Caesar’s best friend, Antony, showed major components of being an effective leader. Characteristics such as, perseverance, logic, and having emotional intelligence, were shown throughout the play. Perseverance is a major trait an effect leader should have. Although times may be difficult, a leader should be able to overcome any obstacle in order to achieve great success. In everyday activities, an effective team captain helps lead his or her team to victory, and lift their team back up if they are down (Warner). In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Antony showed perseverance in Act V, during the battle against Brutus. Not only were there many obstacles, Antony was able to lead his army to victory in the very end (Probst 876). …show more content…
Emotional Intelligence in a leader is not only knowing their own emotions but also the emotions of those that look up to them, and how this may affect everyone (Emotional). In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, after Caesar was murdered by the Conspiracy, Antony took a moment to mourn for his beloved friend. Although he was saddened by the unfortunate events, he did not let his emotions get in the way leading up to the final battle, he used that emotion to power his army in order to get justice for Julius
