Examples Of Perseverance In A Long Walk To Water

Perseverance is an important theme in A Long Walk to Water. My first example of perseverance when Salva had to walk miles through the desert to a refugee camp. It showed perseverance because he had a stubbed toe and little water but kept going. His uncle helped him perserver by telling him landmarks to go to so the trip didn’t seem so big. My second example would be when Salva said to himself “I need only to get through the rest of the day” (page 73). To me that me that means to me he just telling himself one more day so he feels like he is all most done with the bad refugee camp that showed perserverance beacse the camp was like a jail with barbed wire and tall fences and you could not leavee unless you are leaving forever. Before I read the book A Long Walk to Water I never really knew how the rest of the world was in poverty stricken countries. I always thought that it was bad there but not to the extent of what that book showed me. It shows how the war has taken a toll on the people and countries there like the sudan lost boys who most of them never found there family again. I really don’t know how someone could survive out there in the wild of africa by themselves at such a young age. Also it shows that present day Africa still isn’t much different and that Nya has to walk 8 hours a day just to get one container of water.…

The novel A Long Walk to Water and the movie A Good Lie both have a lot of similarities and differences. They have to run away from their families, sidling, friends, and their villages to survive this war without anyone getting hurt or killed.
