As far as peer response is concerned, I have absolutely no experience having it done by anyone other than my wife. I have never read another person’s writing and given my critique or suggestions of how it should be written.
As I watched A Peer Response Demonstration (2010) video, I found it very informative. I could see myself like the first person in the video. Like her, I wouldn’t want to be too critical because I would feel bad hurting someone’s feelings. I guess that is why I haven’t ever asked anyone but my wife to read my papers. Even though my wife is very honest with me, I know she loves me and is trying to help me be a better writer. After seeing the second peer response example, I understand there needs to be honesty to help

Where they found that, “in fact, well over 90 percent of the sentences coded clear and error free.” One thing which caught my interest was the difference of opinion between the two authors about Peer review and its result. As per Teller’s experience, peer reading is mostly a waste of time and energy with no productive outcome of a good composition, Hesse thinks otherwise. He states that some of the best written work has come out of peer reading experiments. I would most likely choose the peer evaluation to be the most effective. Peers have the talent to point out information that I may not think of and offer a variety of opinions. Having more than one review would also be beneficial because of the way we all approach the assignment. In conclusion, two insights that I found interesting were through the author's examples and his humble findings of his experience at the factory.…

There are many challenges that follow enrolling in college classes and with each challenge comes a weight students have to carry for the semester. A few of the weights students have to carry are the college bills, class work, and planning around class time. Students have to be careful not to carry too much or else they will be crushed. A student can think that they signed up for a light load, but after the first day of class discover they signed up for more than they can carry. It can be hard to judge just how heavy something can be; the easiest weight can be misjudged on how hard a college course will be.…

Every time a due date would come up for a major assignment, we took time to review each other’s work. I do not remember much from these various encounters, but I do remember receiving helpful comments. Granted, I may have felt upset by some of the things said, but I knew that the criticism I had received was right, and I wanted to do better because of the evaluations. This was unusually for me because before this course, I would hardly listen to others since I thought I was always right. Yet, that changed because I wanted to improve my writing, and to do that I had to listen to other people’s ideas.…

For the peer reflection project, I interviewed Alexis Dowdell about the time her family adopted her cousin, Rochell. I thought this process was very interesting. I felt the right approach to interview Alexis was to be myself.…

With every new class I have ever taken, came new experiences, new knowledge, and self improvement. Which have all made me into a better student and molded me as a person. Not all classes do this to every student it consist of the student’s willingness to learn, and the teacher’s interest in their students learning. In English 1302, I have improved my analyzing skills, my communication skills, and I am working on correct grammar. The evidence I have for the collegiate/peer feedback is the comment I received from the mentor teacher on my self-evaluation form, the self-evaluation form for the self-assessment/reflection, and 3 students surveys from each of the three classes that I taught for the student feedback (see Appendix 1). Area of strength An area of strength for my teaching practice would be the different teaching methods and multiple forms of literacy that I’ve included in the lessons, as I have been trying to do a different activity for each lessons, or includes visual, music, and videos in the lessons to give students different approaches to the contents. In an assessment of my ability to give and receive feedback can be found to be challenging at times. I found that you need to give advice that assists in helping the other individual grow in their knowledge base without bringing in our own potential biases. In looking at myself as a whole, I know I may hold different biases that may be different from someone else which may cause potential conflict. I know that it is also important to use identifying areas that are needed to improve and areas in which the individual that you are giving feedback to excel in. I feel during the role play sessions with the use of the peer evaluation form and feedback given during our discussions had assisted me in learning the areas that I would need to work on more and areas that I have excelled.…
