Overcoming Obstacles Of My Life

In life, there are many obstacles we must overcome. One of these obstacles that I struggle with more often than not is the obstacle of myself. These obstacles are sometimes the hardest to overcome. In my life, I have found myself in situations that without the power of God I may have never made it out. Throughout my High School career, I was surrounded by less than positive influence as many Christian Students are, unfortunately, I fell in the pressure of the people around me. Whether it be drugs and alcohol, disrespect, or even running from my call a God I had many obstacles to overcome. However, no matter how deep I fell God was with me and there, and the moment I called on him and surrendered my life fully I was completely changed.
I have lived in Oklahoma my entire life, but I haven't always lived in Tulsa. The summer before my freshmen year of high school my family moved once again, for the 4th time, this time we moved to Tulsa the town where I was born. Moving around so much especially at such a young affected me a lot I had to make new friends often, and sometimes it was hard for me to invest in a relationship with the possibility of once again moving always looming over my head. I went to Tulsa Memorial High School, all things considered, it's one of the best school in the Tulsa Public School

Drugs and alcohol were a large part of my life. My parents knew I wasn't living to my potential I was in church every Sunday and Wednesday, however I don't think they ever realized how bad it got. Hydrocodone is a narcotic pain-reliever and also happened to be my drug of choice. I finally hit rock bottom when a drug test, my parents asked me to take returned positive.
