PROLOGUE: THE SCENE
A sky full of stars; what a beautiful night. I look out into the dark sky and I feel only hostility and anger. The star’s shine brightly at night without a care in the world and they remind me of my own reflection. How do I shine so bright these days and still have not a care in the world? Dayna, the host of the show, was already seated on set. Many people are fakes when the cameras are rolling. Dayna is no exception.
I was directed to be seated next to Dayna as the producers asked for silence on set. The countdown was five seconds and we would be broadcasting live on air. With the cameras pointed directly at me and Dayna we were all in place. The show had commenced.
Dayna awaited the signal, indicating her to start, she started to read the written cue cards that stood at a distance at the other end of the camera. With a forged smile on her face Dayna started to speak out her rehearsed lines. “Welcome all viewers from home, this is a special edition to the show. Tonight, after a three-year hiatus, a megastar has risen from the dead and

Monologue It’s still bright out now, in Baltimore 1893, and I can swear I hear mother calling “Hubert!” as I follow this funeral band into the Baltimore graveyard. I know she’s 3 miles away and that this isn't possible, but I know she told me not to follow this rag-timing parade. The dirges they sang and played were nothing new, but after that dead big shot was put into that grave, the same songs they sang became so syncopated, so ragtime, that my hands started shaking!…
