“Seven days, there are seven days left until Christmas!” For a young child one of the best parts about holidays are the mythological heroes who’s tales come with them. Children across the country become ecstatic when Christmas, Easter, and the tooth fairy come, and they wait patiently all year for those to happen. Christmas gives children a reason to be on their best behavior all year, Easter allows children to hunt eggs, and tooth fairy helps children see a reward in losing teeth. Each of these can teach children many lessons. The tooth fairy, for example, can teach children that something good can come out of something bad. There are several legends about Santa Claus, also known as St. Nicholas, although none of them can be proven as 100% accurate (History.com Staff, 2010). As said on this website, St. Nicholas was a Bishop who lived in the fourth century in a place called Myra, Asia Minor. He was a very rich man because his parents died when he was young and left him a lot of money. He was also a very kind man who had a reputation for helping the poor and giving secret gifts to people who needed it. The most famous story tells how the custom of hanging up stockings to get presents in first started!
