The dream world is a realist world where the sun is up and everyone is walking. The Matrix is mystifying the real world. The real world is an ugly place to live because there is no real food, the air is bad, and a few people are awake. Berger writes that the paintings mystify because they want us to believe what they want us to believe, in other words, they think for us. “Morpheus, ironically named after the Greek god of dreams, is responsible for rousing Neo from ‘the computer-generated dream world’ the Matrix has programmed humans into accepting as real.” Kimball states that humans accept what they see and do not question it. The paintings are painted the way they are and we are not to question why or how. Paintings are some sort of a Matrix because they have the humans sleeping while they are still there without a story to tell and Kimball also writes, “Having constructed a system for capturing the electrical energy of human mental activity, the AI blocks that energy from driving the human body to act and instead uses it to provide the ignition for the fusion that powers the processes of its Matrix, above all its ongoing incorporation of the human into itself, into its hardware: nuclear fusion here serves the aim of effecting an anthropo-mechanical fusion.” The paintings use the human 's mind to make …show more content…
When the agents moved fast they created a bunch of them meaning that you would think there were 3 agents but in reality there was just the one. “Student David suggested that The Matrix 's Neo (Keanu Reeves) could be considered a modern-day superhero, a "Superman" of the 21st century. Like his 20th-century counterpart he can be seen to meet a locomotive head on, dodge bullets, and jump over tall buildings.” Hurrell states that that Neo is a superman like figure because he is dodging bullets and jumping over tall buildings. This shows the true meaning of mystification because that is what he is doing to the human eye. Neo can be figured as many other different characters just by mystifying and Hurrell continues with “Others made links with Arnold Schwarzenegger films--the dark clothes, dark glasses, and far from diminutive "minigun" of Terminator 2.” The understanding of the Matrix is very confusing. The Matrix does show how from the lower class to the high class can easily be mystified. The Matrix shows a great understanding on how the art historian, mystification, class, and reproduction is
