Examples Of My Writing Process Report

Decent Essays
My writing process report has been slow to begin. I think that I have chosen the correct topic, the beginning steps in the writing processes. I have been struggling with sitting down and getting organized. The pen to paper step has been slow going. I have also stressed myself out because I am running out of time. We are going out of town this weekend and I would like to have everything done before we leave. Twelve hour shifts are scheduled for me on Friday and Tuesday and after a day at work I cannot produce quality work. Therefore, I am dealing with this struggle by scheduling myself time to work on this project the next few days before I have to return to work on Friday. Successes have been happening in the planning process as well as doing

The Process of Effective Writing Green (2011) states that APA and good writing is a long term process (p.69). The writing process has always been difficult for me. My writing has improved with the help of my instructors, online resources, and the college writing center. The writing process has a lot of steps; some of those steps worked well for me such as: generating ideas, listing supporting ideas and details, and drafting. The only reason for why it worked well is because, I just have to write freely, and randomly without any care even if I wrote some unnecessary and meaningless ideas. The same also goes when I draft; grammar, organization, and spelling were the least of my problems because, first drafts are not perfect. However, there are steps that have not worked well for me; for the reason that, doing those steps took me a long time to do. Those steps are polishing, and forming a good topic sentence; they took me almost an hour and a half to finish.…

My writing process usually involves me prewriting, planning, drafting and then editing. I often try to revise the paper while I’m writing it, which often seems to create more problems as I stop my thought process on what I was writing and focus on something else. While this has slowed me down, it has never stopped me from finishing something. I have always had an easy time writing in an environment where I don’t have any tight restrictions and can write freely about ideas for characters, stories, and worlds. I usually have trouble coming up with the right words when I’m required to write about very specific topics or ideas.…

My writing process coming into junior year was quite flawed and would go moderately like this: I would try and start with some hook that at least sounded like it related to the topic I was assigned. I then added a thesis that did not sound like total trash that included exactly what I planned to discuss. As I wrote the rest of my essays, I would sometimes realize there was something I felt added to the argument’s appeal, and after adding it to the body paragraphs, I summed it up in a couple words and squeezed it into my thesis. That was about the maximum amount of revising I would do for my essays. My decently crafted essays contained simple diction with a few SAT words I remembered while writing thrown in awkwardly.…

I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
