Examples Of My Educational Journey

My Educational Journey Have you ever noticed a hesitant, shy, unjustified and confused student in your class? I was just one of them in my middle and elementary school. Just like Mike Rose, I was under estimated by my parents and teachers. I was an average student, who always makes different tactics to encounter the questions of the teacher. I always use a different method to not to get in an eye of the teacher, when I was in elementary school. Every day for me at school was like solving a labyrinth that is going to take forever for me to solve. I was just like in prison, which is created by my own parents. My parents are not so educated; I think that is why they always pressurized me to study. Just like Mike Rose, I was undisciplined …show more content…
Indian education system is very old fashioned and uncreative. Teachers are supposed to do the same syllabus from years ago. Most unacceptable and inadequate thing, it pressurizes the students and they end with cramming. In fact, my own teachers tell us to cram the whole thing in India. If you refused, no one can save you from your teacher stick. As a result, I was a topper on paper but I learned nothing. No matter how strong you are in other field, they just want to see your high scores in exams. From my experience, if you do not cram the whole thing, then your teachers and society will make you believe that you cannot do anything else than selling fruits and vegetable at streets. My story was same as Mike Rose; struggling through an educational system that’s ruins your ability to read and write …show more content…
I supposed to be in the regular algebra class, but I do not know why it happens till now. I never questioned them and tried my best to pass the class. When I hit high school in India, all my goals and aspiration just got disappear from my life. All I wanted to just hang out with my street friends and play cricket. I do not want to do any homework and always beaten by the parents at home and at school by the teachers. I barely passed my all classes. Whenever our family friends or relative come at home, I was the breaking news to debate at. My whole community criticizes me and makes me think that I am below average student. Anyhow, I was very good at science especially at biology just like Rose. I always got 98 to 99 percent marks in tests. At that same time, I was also selected by the Punjab cricket board (PCA) for playing cricket at the state level in under 19 team. In junior year still in India, I jumped one math class on the recommendation of my teacher. I was promoted to the algebra2 class. My teacher name was Sarita Devi; she was so hard and strict. She always hit me with her long and thick stick in winter. I ended with C in her class, but I was extremely happy with that unless my parents come into the play at parent’s teacher meeting. I was embarrassed by my parents and teacher at the conference in front of other

In 1966 nineteen percent of students had A-average or above, but in 2009 that percentage was already up to forty-eight (Twenge 416). With such a huge jump in the amount of A’s being given out it would be expected that students are studying more, but this is not the case. In 1966 forty-seven percent of people were studying six hours plus a week, and in 2006 that dropped down to thirty-five percent of people. It is common knowledge that students that study more learn more than students who study less. Because of grade inflation, students today don 't have to study as much as in the past.…

Twas the night after my first World History class. The overview of what was to come was still fresh in my mind. The roaring battles between nobles and their families, the whimsical and almost ludicrous arguments that started wars, all the "fork on the left" mentalities that set my interest ablaze.
