I walked in Mrs. Turner’s Kindergarten class today is my last day observing this classroom. Mrs. Turner was going over the words sentences that the students formed the last time I observed which was on Monday about what they liked to do with their families. The students are sitting on the carpet; she had to tell the students to behave on the carpet. Mrs. Turner is handled each student a dry erase board where she wrote a word from part of the sentence on it. She split the class in half having half the class with board to stand up and the other sitting down. The students standing on the carpet in are in a line across the smart board in girl, boy order. They were told to hold the board facing towards them so the class can’t see yet. While this …show more content…
Turner’s Kindergarten class. I walked in the classroom with a better understanding, vibe and vision about teaching. I like how Mrs. Turner continued to work on the family book sentences that the students created the other day. That technique helped with repetition so that the students would remember how to form complete sentences. With Mrs. Turner incorporating in the dry erase books the students get a visual picture of the actual word. Even though Mrs. B wasn’t a part of the dry erase sentence classroom activity, she was helping the students review on their learning in the back of the classroom. After speaking to Mrs. B about the seating arrangements and learned about the technique that they were trying to use to see if it will succeed. The new seats arrangements are an experiment to if certain students are going to benefit and learn better if they are surrounding around students that are advance so they can piggy back the knowledge. Overall, I had a wonderful time observing Mrs. Turner’s Kindergarten classroom during these pass 7 weeks; I definitely hope that when I become a teacher I can a use her methods and techniques that Mrs. Turner and Mrs. B. used in my own

Today, in the very few minutes I was with Mrs. DeLorenzo, I was able to observe many things that were related to this week’s readings. During story time, Mrs. DeLorenzo used many different techniques to maintain group focus. She used non-verbal cues, such as hand signal to a child who was not sitting properly on the rug, and she gave “the look” to a student that was moving too much on his seat while she was reading the story. She also gave a student a gentle touch on the shoulder to get to shift the child’s attention from biting his nails to paying attention to the book. She used verbal cues as well, to remind a child to keep his hands down so he could concentrate in the instructions that Mrs. DeLorenzo was giving while reading the book.…

Yellow Card It is an average day at Cumberland Elementary; my face warms from the sun gleaming through the windows, and I sit in my desk in Mrs. Huffman’s second grade classroom. It is a rather cheerful classroom; chairs of all different vibrant colors stationed at each desk, my own being purple. A cushy rug with a checkered pattern displaying the alphabet fills space between the desks and the chalkboard. The wall to my left has the sticker board marking how many teeth each student has lost. I had six stickers, although most kids had more.…

I went over spring break, so I stayed for three days in the classroom and got to experience what it is like throughout the whole day. Mrs. Cameron’s classroom had five tables for the students to sit and a rocking chair at the front for herself; although, she hardly ever sat. Mrs. Cameron did not have a teacher’s desk, but instead she had a chair at one of the tables with the students. There were posters on the wall that together made the alphabet, and others which displayed vocabulary words.…
