The Innermost Cave was full of enemies. Baggins experiences being attacked by spiders, almost killed by Gollum, encountered with a dragon, etc. When Baggins encountered with Gollum in the cave, he had to answer a bunch of riddles to survive. If he wasn't able to figure it out he would be eaten. Baggins earlier found a ring on the ground that would turn him invisible. Without this magical ring, he probably would of been died. This ring helped him rescuing friends and surviving many enemies including Smaug the Dragon in the Lonely Mountains. Smaug was hiding Thorin’s Arkenstone with piles of gold. When Baggins approaches the Lonely Mountains, that's where he nearly faces death. He had to steal the Arkenstone and battle with five enemies. One of the guys from the group, named Bard, killed Smaug. Bard uses his last iron arrow to shoot it on Smaug's weakest point. They all worked as a team to receive "the Heart of the Mountain". All in all, that's why the Innermost Cave in the Hobbit is involved with Monomyth. Bilbo Baggins was forced to go to an adventure, he defeated creatures he's never seen before, and in the end he gets rewarded. The Dwarves awarded him chests of gold, mail shirt, and he gets to keep the ring and elvish dagger. His personality becomes more courageous because of this adventure.
