In a quote by John Berger, “You painted a naked woman because you enjoyed looking at her, put a mirror in her hand and you called the painting “Vanity,” thus morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you had depicted for your own pleasure.” Over the course of history, views on women has changed drastically. Yet, to this day there is an incredible amount of misogyny roaming around in society. Even though there has been a great amount of growth in the way society thinks, people still have more to learn. Many believe that they are not misogynist, but they don’t realize that things they say or do are in some cases against women. Sexual objectification, authority, and entitlement have a lot do with ways people can be misogynist.
There can be many misconceptions of what misogyny is and people may take it as anti-feminism. However, the two are different and anti-feminism is being against feminist ideals, not pro-misogyny. Anti-feminism is the dislike of feminism, while misogyny is the dislike of women. Confusing the two is what most people do and they are different.
