Info: Mind control is a system of influences that interupts an individual in the worst ways at their level of identity. This creates a whole new personality for them. During this process, the individual isn’t even aware of the extent of influence that is being put on them.
In 1984 by George Orwell the main theme of the whole book is control, The Party demonstrates what mind and body control looks like. The Party puts their people in a estate of exhaustion and fright.
We truly do believe that mind control( emotional abuse) is worse than physical torture because of the following arguments:

If they told you that 2+2=5, you had to believe it. They trained you to believe anything they told you, even if you knew it wasn’t right. Example: Winston knew that he didn’t feel safe in his surroundings. Anybody wouldn’t, knowing that you are being watched at all times. It would be going against the human rights (for example: article #12- The right to Privacy, #14 The right to seek a safe place to live, #18 Freedom of Thought, #19 Freedom of Expression). In the first chapter of book one, of 1984, Winston even kept his back turned to the telescreen. “It was safer; though, as well as he knew, even a back can be revealing.” (Orwell 3) This just goes to show that he doesn’t want to be near the telescreens. Another example would be when he was writing in his journal he hid from the telescreens in order for them to hopefully not see
