Contrast in correlation to metaphor is the third poetic device, which is frequently used in both the lyrics, as well as the video that accompanies the song. During the video, the camera alternates between two shots; one, of the singer dancing alone in a room and clips of vintage home videos. These home videos have strong metaphors in correlation to the lyric sung around the videos. A particular example of this is: “ I’m forever chasing after time, but everybody dies, dies” we see a clip of a couple dancing while being cheered on, preceded by a clip of children at a birthday party. These serve as a metaphor to the lyrics because in these videos, they appear exuberant and joyous. While seeing their happiness, we hear lyrics such as “everyone
