Medication Synthesis Week Nine The patient is a thirty-two-year-old African American female who has been taking phentermine/topiramate orally for weight loss. She is five foot two inches tall and weighs two hundred and twenty-five pounds. This puts her body mass index at all 41.1, which categorizes her as morbidly obese (NHLBI, 2017). She has taken this medication in the past and has been restarted on this medication for a week now. Her current dose is 3.75/23 mg orally every day for fourteen days (Medscape, n.d.). After this fourteen-day period, she is then instructed to increase the dose to 7.5/46 mg orally every day for twelve weeks (Medscape, n.d.).
