Examples Of Media Bias

I chose these four lessons as I believe they demonstrate the most growth and provide variety within my portfolio. The speech in which I put myself in John F. Kennedy’s position was especially interesting to write, because although it was outside of my comfort level, I was given the opportunity to identify and write as somebody completely different from myself— someone in a position so powerful that a nation depends on him. In contrast, the letter in lesson nine is written from the perspective of an individual in the Great Depression; someone who feels powerless and hopeless, yet chooses to see the humour in things, despite being placed in a situation beyond his control. Additionally, during my research for this letter, I found myself learning a great deal of interesting facts regarding this tragic era. The “Deep-Thinking Questions” and the “Examples of Media Bias” afforded me the opportunity to put the analytical skills that I have gained during this course to use whilst simultaneously improving them. The questions being asked forced me to evaluate the novel “In The Skin of a Lion” and search for the deeper underlying meaning of every sentence. Similarly, whilst evaluating the 1930s posters, I was able to put my analytical skills to use through a different medium. However, I am pleasantly surprised and proud of myself for being able to work diligently on each assignment, disregarding the fact that it may have been outside of my comfort zone. I realize that it is those assignments— the ones that may make you feel uncomfortable — that push you to become a better writer. I am feel great pride in being able to complete this course and hope that I can continue to put these learned skills to use in my future
