People have been controlling and manipulating others for so long, either in society or in relationships. This type of behaviour can affect how people communicate with each other and their connection. Bonds between people are built upon trust, and respect. However, in order for a relationship to be healthy, these things both need to be mutual. When people gain power, they obtain the access to change that person's mind, beliefs, or even there perspectives on ideas on a day-to-day basis. This idea was shown in the short story “The Possibility of Evil” by Shirley Jackson, in the movie “The Truman Show” by Peter Weir and even in our world today. He makes people think that everything he is doing to Truman and his life was totally expectable since this is for the entertainment business. He implies that Truman has not been greatly impacted by this and that he was not really considered a human. However, when people were watching the “The Truman Show” in the bar, they are overjoyed with excitement and did not think once of how crazy and disturbing this whole production and development is. They did not notice this because they all have fallen into a mindset that this is just like every other reality TV show, even though the main actor was not aware he is part of this show. Furthermore, this is scary because Truman never has the knowledge of when people are watching him or if the things that are happening to him are because of life or due to the production and director making his life decisions for him. His life has been toyed with a lot in this production because he never got the chance to live a real life and be with the one person he actually loved. Truman never got the opportunity to deal with any hard decisions or even get to do the one job he always wanted which is travelling the world. Without Truman finding out who he really is, it caused him to be depressed and hate his life. In addition, the production is controlling because they are compelling Truman to live in a world with no real friends or family and ruining his whole aspect on life. Everyday when Truman wakes up, you can tell that even he knows he will go through the same boring old day as seen when those twins come up to Truman and push him up to a wall to talk to him. This shows that he’s not enjoying life as he would if he had a real family and real friends to spend time with. When Truman is spending time with his best friend Marlon and his father, it appears that they want to be as genuine as

Despite the plot which has been done before (most notably on television series "The Twilight Zone" and "The Prisoner"), "The Truman Show" manages to surprise and delight. The clever screenplay by "Gattaca" scripter Andrew Niccol plays up on the inherent phoniness of televised drama with a very sly and subversive sense of humor. The script is also engaging in its emotional dynamic of Truman having his world unraveled around him, and choosing between risking his own life for freedom, or to stay content in the world's most comfortable prison. However, unlike the bloated "Godzilla", "The Truman Show" ends too quickly without giving a chance to thoroughly explore the…
