To get to were we are today the United States had to expanded on lands that wasn't exactly theirs. This is know as manifest destiny. They bought the land to say it was their that that was not the end of manifest destiny. In the Us during the time 1800 Manifest destiny is greed. Manifest destiny shows greed is when white settlers started hearing about valuables in the land they started to claim it. In the document A soldier recalls the Trail of Tears and it states "In the year 1828, a little Indian boy living on ward creek had sold a gold nugget to a white trader, and that nugget sealed the doom of the Cherokees, In a short time the country was overrun with armed brigands claiming to be government agents." One thing showing this is when the Indians were getting kick out. And it said "a little sad-faced child had died and was lying on a skin couch and some women were preparing the little boy for burial." How this is showing greed is the mother did not even get the chance to buried her son in a grave. This mother having to leave her son on the couch. Another example is " Ben McDonal, who was using his whip on an old feeble Cherokee to hasten him into the wagon." This is talking about an old man that is getting whip to be hurried up. When everyone gets older they get pains and are not as fast as they were when they were younger. This man whip him to hurry up and this show greed because he is forcing them out of their house and he used any means to do so. Being kicked out of an house is hard and you want to make sure that you have what you need.
