    1. By showing the witches in the beginning, Shakespeare was able to foreshadow all the conflict and uneasiness of the play. The witches bring a new kind of suspense by indirectly introducing Macbeth to the audience. Instead of having a normal introduction, Shakespeare uses the witches and their discussion to set up the uncertain mood of the play. In the quote, “Fair is foul and foul is fair,/Hover through the fog and filthy air” (Shakespeare, 7) all the witches are hinting at their schemes for Macbeth, while simultaneously, confusing the reader about what is to happen.…

There are several examples of foreshadowing in the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare but one of the most important ones has to do with the theme of blood throughout the play. The bloody battle in Act I foreshadows events that will occur later in the play and have a deeper meaning. In this play Lady Macbeth, Macbeth, and their assassins symbolize murderous evil and show it through the crimes they commit. They go to extreme lengths in order to reach their goal of Macbeth becoming King. These vicious killers take the lives of Duncan, Banquo and Macduff's family.…

Lady Macbeth assures this is nothing but a strange habit but by her tone I could tell there is definitely something she is keeping from us. A strange night it has been so far, the King appears to be insane or is becoming insane, and Banquo hasn’t shown up to dinner yet. At this point I try to not focus on the king’s behavior and just get through dinner. Surely something is off with a King who is mysteriously talking to a figure he is seeing. As we continue feasting on the feeling of the room has gone from excited to uncomfortable, hardly able to keep small talk.…
