9 September 2014 Literacy Narrative Moving to the United States was a very hard transition for me. Learning how to speak the American English, and learning their spelling words was so difficult because I was raised speaking British English, learning the morals, culture and how you guys communicated with one another was also a hard part of moving down here. I already knew how to speak English when I moved to the United States, but I spoke
British English, and spelt words differently from the Americans. For example, the

fuller class, I poured my heart into writing the essay because I actually read the book, and understood what the book was all about.. Out of all the essays I written in high school for both my English class and English as second language class, the essay about the book “things fall apart” was one of the essays I have had the highest grade on. Reading the book made me fall in love with reading novels, especially novels that had to with the traditions and culture of other countries, or the social issues of other countries. I also remember when Mrs. Fuller would say she is assigning on us all this paper to prepare us for the subject area testing program (SATP) exam. This test covered some subjects but Mrs. Fuller was more concerned about the English part of this exam. The day of the exam finally came, and we the ESL students were put in a different room from all other students. I felt good while taking the exam. I did all what Mrs. Fuller thought us to do and my English teacher thought us to do when I came to reading and writing part. The results came in like months later and I happened to pass and I did best on the essay question part. Mrs. Fuller was happy majority of her student passed the exam. Passing the exam made the school sure that I was ready to be on my own and that I do not have to take the Esl class anymore. I was so excited that I was better than I used to be as a writer, and to be done with taking the Esl
