Leadership in Beowulf Beowulf displays multiple examples of leadership characteristics and qualities. Leadership is a tough quality to develop and use, but Beowulf makes it look as if it is completely natural to him. Beowulf is a leader because he risks his own life to save others, people count on him to win battles, and he has confidence in his abilities. Beowulf risks his own life to save others. He and fourteen other warriors come to Hrothgar’s aid when the monster, Grendel, attacks his mead hall. The warriors attempt to control Grendel, but the attempt ultimately fails. When Grendel goes to attack Beowulf, the warrior comes out on top, meaning Grendel is eliminated (Loughman). The victory celebration does not last for long because Grendel’s
