What is the definition of irony? Irony are words said to do something, but do it not as expected. "The Ransom of Red Chief" has situation irony with most of Red Chief's actions. In this story their are some funny parts in it. In paragraph 70, sentence 2, it said "I was given oats," Bill was playing a horse with the boy. That is situation irony because Bill is a man not a horse. The funny thing is that instead of oats he gave sand. In the story some irony help pull the theme together. In paragraph 24, sentence 2, it said "realistically trying to take Bills scalp," which is weird sense he was playing Indian. This quote pulled the theme that the boy was a little crazy.
