The irony, which occurs in the story Crow Lake, revolves around Luke. Originally, the character of Luke started to alter after the death of his parents. Since, he was the oldest in the family now, he started to develop into more of an accountable and trustworthy character. However, all starts to escalate when Luke loses his job. There were many evident changes in him, and he started becoming more resistant and a person who waited for things to change on its own without taking action. He didn’t like worrying about his problems and constantly kept repeating, “Something will turn up.” (179) As a reader, I didn’t anticipate anything to turn up, as I saw the character, not taking any action to resolve the situation.
