Imagine being left by a coffin, that you were supposed to die in. the narrator of the story “The Scarlet Ibis” did this to his brother Doodle who could not walk. This shows that pride can be a destructive force, because he wanted to feel that he was better that Doodle. This also means that's Doodles brother is Guilty of his Death.
One reason Doodle’s brother was guilty was that he was mean to Doodle. A example of that is “At times I was mean to Doodle”. This is when he is throwing Doodle out of the go-cart. This is just cruel to anybody but exceptionally cruel to a person with problems. Another example of the narrator being mean to Doodle is “Brother, brother, don’t leave me”. This was when Doodle’s brother left Doodle out in the rain, the narrator ran away from Doodle on purpose which caused Doodle to die. This proves that he has no feeling for brother Doodle. An example of this is “I began to make plans to kill him”. This is Doodle’s brother talking to himself about how he wanted to kill Doodle by suffocation. This proves that he did not like Doodle at all, he did not want a brother with problems. Another example is “A long list of don’t went with him”. This is the doctor talking about Doodle.
