Examples Of Injustice In Oedipus The King

Justice is a strong word, but injustice is even stronger. When a person’s destiny is according to their lifestyle then it is considered to be justice. However, when a person only does good (or at least tries his best) and life strokes him with an awful destiny then it is an injustice. In Oedipus the king, the main character, Oedipus, faces injustice, but he is a person with morals so ne decided to make “justice by his own hand.” First of all, Oedipus being king provoked that desire of wanting the best for the people i his town the best for the people in his town this proving that Oedipus looks forwards for the comfort of others. Later, he found out that his wife was his mom, and the person he had killed was his dad. Did Oedipus stood there with his arms crossed blaming life for his terrible destiny? He did not. Despite the hurt that he felt and the impotent his sons and daughters felt, he did the correct thing by moving out of the town. Maybe Oedipus exaggerated a little by taking out his eyeballs, But that was the punishment he felt he deserved. Oedipus the King, utilized his broken life to “search for justice.” Living his daughters without his protection is the greatest punishment he gave himself. Nothing, not even losing his mom/wife father or his eyes can hurt more than saying goodbye to his love ones, those that he saw as a baby, has seen them grow, but are still not ready to “fly”on their own are being left in the past, and only because Oedipus wanted justice for the bad acts he had committed. Moreover, the act of justice Oedipus did was very successful. The King demonstrated his bravery by leaving everything behind and living his tragic life by his own. In other words, Oedipus is a hero. Only one person in a million would of been brave enough, and would have had the courage to say to life “here is my other
