Edgar Allan Poe, a dark and mysterious writer, a poet, a “subsequent” author. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Poe was left alone at a young age, with the disappearance of his father, and death of his mother early in life. Already we see Poe has been through a seemingly dark life. He published his first book at eighteen and made not a dollar. Went in the military and was dismissed after skipping classes. His life lives on with his writing, not life from the grave. “The Masque of the Red Death” In Poe’s horrific fictional story, he uses many examples of his main writing strategy. Imagery. The rooms, the hospitality being hosted is taking place in these six areas. But why six? The home has seven rooms total? Each glowing with vivid and beautiful colors, matching to the stained glass panes, setting the world to drive light into the brazier, keeping the peace… “But in this chamber only, the color of the windows failed to correspond with the decorations. The panes here were scarlet- a deep blood color.” …But from this example, it can be concluded how the world is dark and not beautiful at all times. This room is the true depth to wear death hides. He is grotesque and disgusting. One to be hung at the dawn of light. But, don't be heroic entering his home. A dark and mysterious place, an ebony clock which strikes fear in the guests just as it strikes the next hour with its hand. Prospero, the prince, is frightened by the look of the figure. The figure slowly walking to the chamber at the end of the hall, pushing fear to the minds of partygoers. The prince should never show resemblance of fear to the people who look up to him. That thought running through this mind as he sprints the corridor to attack the ugly image. Poe reveals death, unveiling him at the seventh chamber. Forcing the prince to the ground, leaving him without a pulse. Resolving the situation and killing all member of the gathering present whilst the figure had been. Our story
