Hammurabi’s Code: Was it just?
Have you heard about Hammurabi? Hammurabi was a king who lived 4,000 years ago and ruled for 42. Hammurabi's codes were laws. Hammurabi ruled almost all of Mesopotamia. They were the first written laws.. The purpose of the code was to let his people live peacefully. Hammurabi’s Code is unjust for three reasons personal injury,creation of laws,and family laws.
Examples of unjust laws can first be found in the area of personal injury. The first example is “If he has struck the slave-girl of a freeman and causes her to lose the fruit of her womb he shall pay 2 shekels of silver.” In other words if someone hurts a slave girl and makes her lose her
