This semester I decided to observe Ted’s Montana Grill kitchen staff. My boyfriend is the head cook in the kitchen. I thought it would be interesting to see how they all work together. For some back ground information. This is a group with 6 people. I started observing at the perfect time because every kitchen staff member was brand new other than the head cook. Each of these 6 people depend on one and other to reach their goal of having the “perfect plate.” If one of the members does not do their part than the customer will not be able to get their food in a timely manner. By the next night each member clearly understood their task and what was expected of them during rush hour. The dish, salad, grill, oven, and expo guy all listening to what the kitchen manager had said the previous night and applied it to the next day of work to reach their goal. It was interesting to watch them the next night because guys seem to brush things off very fast and show up with a good attitude. They all found their voices and worked together to make sure that everyone had updates on how each other were doing that way all of the food was coming out at the right time. There were a few times some things would be late but to keep the group from arguing they were still communicating and asking questions …show more content…
They were able to achieve what they were set out to do and did it in a great manor. Their is a lot of stress this group goes through and it says something about the leader that each of the guys showed up every day motivated and ready to get started. I think this group did very well because they found things to bond over other than the task at hand and they chose to help one and other when possible instead of just doing the bare minimum. Their relationships depended on one and other even though this may not be the best job in the world they owned what they were doing every night and had a great sense of respect for the job, goal, and their
