What seems good turns bad, and what seems bad turns good. It is an endless cycle. In the movie, Count of Monte Cristo, Edmond Dantes looks as if he has the perfect life. He is about to become the captain of a ship, he is engaged to a woman named Mercedes, and he is liked by almost everyone who knows him. This amazing life, however, ends up dangerous because of the jealousy among of three of Dantes’s so-called friends.
As a wise man once said, ‘Jealousy is a form of hatred built upon insecurity.’ Danglars, wants Dantes’s success; Fernand is in love with Dantes’s fiancée and also he craves his success; his neighbor Cadrouse is jealous that Dantes life is easier than his own. We think that the people that are around us would stand by us forever. But in reality, they always end up hurting us the most. In fact, these men wrote a letter accusing Dantes of a crime of killing somebody important from the Country. Though Dantes doesn’t know anything about Politics, it is easy to accuse him of murder. For instance, I remember when I was in a relationship with my ex and he was the jealous type. It was fine at first because I knew that everyone is somewhat jealous. But then it got to the point that he became controlling over me and manipulative. I do understand where Dantes’s friends are coming from, but it does not make it ok to act out on it in such a dangerous way. A way that puts a man into a dangerous position such as Jail.
