Greed for power and wealth often leads to guilt and remorse, which plays an important part of the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare. Not only greed controls the human mind, it also controls the human body through the effects of the actions a person makes because of it. Macbeth meets the three witches. However, the witches claim that soon he will be king, which confuses Macbeth. "Stars hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires” (1.4.57-58). Macbeth misinterpretation and greed leads to him killing Duncan, the king's two guards ,Banquo, Lady Macduff, her family, and her household.
