Examples Of Foreshadowing In Macbeth

Throughout Shakespearean times of literature, the plays William Shakespeare wrote and directed conveyed emotions that connected with his audiences to display powerful messages, although not all of his works were effective in their messages. In William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, the author fails at developing the adequate idea of suspense and mystery due to over foreshadowing through paradox, poor character development, and simplistic ideas about fate.
Within the play the paradoxs given led to over foreshadowing events to come or failed to depict tragic flaws of fallen characters. One of these tragic flaws in the play was the insanity of Lady Macbeth after murdering King Duncan. Shakespeare used the paradox “she died everyday she lived” from Macduff after after discovering she had taken her own life. One such character was King Duncan, in the introduction of the king he is put forth as an honorable, honest, and holy king. Due to the author not developing King Duncan when Macbeth found out his fate, it led the audience to foreshadow that Macbeth would take advantage of his opportunity to kill King Duncan. Throughout more of the play this becomes a recurring theme of underdeveloped characters being murdered. For example Banquo in the play was Macbeth’s right hand man, in the play when he is introduced. When he is developed it seems as he is distant from Macbeth although he is supposed to be his best man. Due to the distance created by shakespeare the cavity is shown between them leading the audience to assume the importance of him in the play. This further takes the suspense out of his murder in the play leading the audience to not be emotional or shocked about his
