Stages of language development have six steps in which typically developing children go through as they develop language (Weitzman & Green Berg, 2002, pg. 37). I have chosen the fifth child from the last six language sample, for describing the strategies. Moreover, language analysis (phonology, syntax, semantics) gave a clear description of the child's strength and weakness in all aspects of language usage. While reviewing, I noticed that child could express the names of the animals, and comment on how many in number as well as their breed. He also knows how to use long, complex sentences about an event as his strength. On the other side, the child mispronounces the speech sounds / Sh / & / Ch / & …show more content…
In stage 6: “typically developing children are later sentenced users from three to five years, they use long, complex sentences and can hold conversations for extended period” (Weitzman & Green Berg, 2002, p.50).
Open- ended bulletin boards for activities like menu, rules can be used as a strategy to enhance child’s sentence making ability (Weitzman & Green Berg, 2002, p.368).
Story making (classroom stories) is one of the effective strategy in which each child in group gets their turns to make stories of their own sentence, followed by hanging the story on a board or wall.
Encouraging story telling in unstructured situations like free play, out door play meal and snack- time, can be a strategy for improving sentence making ability.
There is some strength I could notice, while assessing language analysis (vocabulary) of the child at 42 months. At this stage, the Later Sentence Users becomes more adept at expressing the names of the animals and comment on how many in number and their breeds. As per Weitzman & Green Berg, “Later Sentence User’s vocabulary is up to 5,000 words!” (Weitzman & Green Berg, 2002,
