In the novel Little Women Alcott used the character Jo March to show the characteristics of feminism. Jo was a strong willed, independent and optimistic women. Jo believed the she alone could make a difference in women's lives. Louisa was the first women to register to vote in the Concord,Massachusetts area. Once they had passed that women were now able to vote Louisa tried her hardest to encourage other women to register and vote in the next election. Louisa struggled to convince other women of the town to vote because they said they were to busy doing household chores. Eventually Alcott had convinced 19 women to vote in their town election. In novel little women the women of the book are supposed to stay home, have children, and do the house chores.
