There were many themes while reading The Crucible by Arthur Miller, but the one I thought was most consistent throughout the book was a lack of honesty and faith. The book is based off of the story of the Salem witch trials; where young girls who have claimed to have seen the devil started accusing most of the town of witchcraft. It all began from a lack of honesty and kept progressing because of faith by the court. Abigail is the antagonist of the story and John Proctor is the protagonist. While John's wife was sick, John commits a sin by conducting adultery with Abigail. When Elizabeth finds out, she kicks Abigail out of their home damaging her reputation and loses her trust in John. As John works at earning his trust back, Abigail comes
