“The variety of interpretations suggests that perhaps different experiences are being discussed or that the ratio of interpretation to experience may be too high, but stress on the extreme and the exceptional experience is common to all Existentialism” (MacIntyre). The woman expresses at the beginning of the story that her husband, John, diagnosed her with nervous depression, hence why they moved out to the country for her to recover. However, moving her out of her norm brought unease and discomfort from the start, then leaving her isolated in a room all day made the circumstances more severe. The woman reveals that she enjoys writing and that was a comfort for her, but again her husband didn’t want her to express her thoughts. “I don’t know why I should write this. I don’t want to. I don’t feel able. And I know John would think it absurd. But I must say what I feel and think in some way--it is such a relief! But the effort is getting to be greater than relief” (Gilman). Due to all the changes going on in Hamlet’s life, he struggles forming the right idea of what the real meaning of his life is and anxiety starts to take over. “...Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?
